Archive for the ‘Videos’ CategorySakuraba (not the fighter, the lover) is also a member here on GinJ. I?ve been trying to get this video on the sight for the past couple weeks. Sorry so late Sakuraba. Here ya go. And thanks again. I finally figured out how to post videos from YouTube and possibly Google. You ought to be seeing MANY more of them. Enjoy! I thought you all might like to see what it’s like to be surrounded by monkeys. It was an amazing site to see them converge all at once for their daily feed. Sorry about the jittery camera. I couldn’t possibly take in all in with one lens. Location : Mt. Takasaki, Oita, Japan Imagine if it were legal to go out on Saturday night with your buddies and race. Oh man, I can smell the rubber now. My uncle used to be a drag car racer and my dad was into race boats (I’ll never forget the?River Rat). But in Japan, street racing is…well…legal. I mean, according to my student, Manabu. ?He told me he was in a club at his university (#1 in Kobe…Do you know the university?). His club, along with about 20 others, used to get together for rallies every so often in the mountains above Kobe. 40 cars or so would race from 8PM to 5AM on three or four sections of road located on different mountains. At the end of the night, the winner would receive maybe free tires, oil, or some other related prize plus a trophy. The interesting thing here is how the police monitor it. They don’t, I guess. The roads are actually blocked off by the police and JAF (Japan Autmobile Association). Can you believe it? The police block off the roads so that these crazy college students can race their souped-up cars around the mountain. And each member is required to have a roll cage but they are checked only by the club members, not JAF. How well do you think the joints are soldered? I know it isn’t really anything to do with Japan, but it’s funny to me no less. I used to have a couple crazy cats in college. Mostly I just got them stoned and made up stories while they tried to cope with unreality. Never cried laughing so much with my friends. Screw catnip. No cats were damaged in any way while filming these videos. They did it to themselves. Silly pussies. We went out for okonomiyaki tonight. Yes, I love it! My wife was out with her friend, Smiley, watching the rainy Kobe Festival, but of course they got tired of the rain and went to an izakaya. This time they went to Saizeriya, where the wine only cost them 110 yen a glass. By the time I saw them, they had a pretty good scent goin’. They asked the husbands if we wanted to get together. Me, the easy-going husband that I am, said ‘of course sweetheart. If you say there is going to be okonomiyaki, beer and someone else who likes drinking, then I am in.’ And off we went. This video is of my wife’s daughter, who works at the same place, making Hiroshimayaki. I’m not going to go into what it is, unless you’d like to hear. Get a beer and watch this! |
