Gaijin isn't a bad word. There just isn't any
other word to describe us. And besides, I'm
different and I like it that way. Why else would
I decide to leave San Francisco and live here
forever? So that I can eat good food? Maybe.
Give a Japanese a bottle of aspirin with a childproof cap and see what happens. Tomoko picked up this bottle and asked me how to open it. Then I thought, hmm, Japan doesn’t have childproof anything. I started thinking about it more. There aren’t any childproof things in the stores. We had to go to Toys R Us to get all of our baby stuff. Actually, I can’t even think of another baby supply store in Japan. Is there one? Do Japanese get paranoid about baby safety? I also wonder why the Baby in Car signs are written in English.
I am so happy someone has finally made a video on how to visit a sushi shop. I have always thought gaijins look so strange. Maybe now things will change.
We visited this place in Toyooka, Hyogo that served great soba in a traditional Japanese house. Everything was beautiful.
The first video is, of course, making soba. The second video is of the fresh fish on skewer that was still alive. I had to take a little video of the drama of the fish. Is it true that river fish need to be well cooked? I was made to wait forever until they were too dry.
Is there such a thing? Does it REALLY exist in Japan, or is it something brought to Japan by foreigners? Maybe religion has dictated that promiscuity is something best kept at home. The fact that men constantly challenge this belief simply complicates its regulation. Thus, if there is no regulation or standard belief, then it does not exist.
I might write about the difficulties and misunderstandings of living in Japan, but the fact of the matter is, it’s a great place to be. Kintarosan shows us once again just how great this island of mystery really is. Congratulations on your accomplishment and a big thank you for recording the experiences we so much enjoy of Japan. Arigato gozaimashita Kintarosan!

Hi Tyler,
I run a website called Gaijin-in-Japan.com. I’ve just put your video on my site in order to share your great accomplishment. I’ve been living in Kobe for the past seven years after moving here from San Francisco. Sometimes I forget just how great this country really is. Thank you for reminding me. Please let me know how if I can support you further.
Hope to hear from you.
Mike
PS: Looks like the beer is going down much better now.

Mike : Yo Zen. Not Mike-chan, Mike-kun, Not Mike-kun, Mike-san. And actually, it should be Mike-sensei or McKay-sensei. Really sounds wierd hearing Mi-chan ringing in my head.
