Weather News Current Events Main Topic I’m sooo happy someone is actually commenting on my choice of using the name “Gaijin.” Is Gaijin really a bad word? Should Japanese feel bad about calling foreigners “gaijin?” Ridiculous. Those who come to Japan think this country is maybe the last first world economy with its shit together. Calling us gaijin just means we are people from another country. You could call us pricks, assholes, murderers or bombers but the fact is…we want to know Japan just as much as you want to know the rest of the world. If a Japanese go to a party with 100 people and there are 3 foreigners, the next day when you are talking about your night, do you say, “Hey Yuki, that gaijin you were kissing…or, I’m sorry, that uh uh uh guy with the mustache…or maybe the big belly.” What do you say? We’re gaijin and have no problem with it. Except it. We both live on an island. There are more of you than us. Let’s just be able to communicate and enjoy what we both have to offer.
