Youth arrested for fatally running over employee of NBA’s Dallas Mavericks in Tokyo

Police have arrested a 19-year-old boy on suspicion of driving away after fatally running over an employee of the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association (NBA) who had earlier been hit by a taxi in Tokyo.

Japanese housewives are banning Chinese imported food. According to my wife, her and her friends have decided to stop buying Chinese imports after hearing of the latest tainted food incident concerning frozen gyoza and some 1,000 people becoming hospitalized. From what I understand, people who eat the gyoza become very sick after only 30 seconds. Is this because the gyoza is spoiled or because the pork is low quality (pork is extremely expensive in China now). Or is there some other reason why food would cause someone to become sick in such a short amount of time?

Listen up. If my wife and her friends are banning Chinese imports, you can bet your dollars there at least another couple million housewives doing the same.

A new mobile phone application promises to give everyone the gift of the gab in any language.

Developed by NEC, the Japanese electronics giant, the world’s first real-time mobile phone translator is at present limited to translating spoken Japanese into English text on the screen.

But future versions will be able to take phrases in other languages and translate them in a similar manner, creating what NEC hopes will be an invaluable tool for holidaymakers and people conducting business abroad. Telegraph

Maybe finally I’ll be able to understand my wife.

USA vs Japan at World Cup Volleyball 2007That was some GREAT volleyball; or at least it looked good. Lots of jumping and ducking, hitting and smashing…oh and the game was good too. My wife and I spent more time arguing about things than actually watching the game, but it was a good game none the less. Hey, since when did volleyball become a black sport? Tall.

Who did I root for? Japan. Why? etooo. soooo desu ne.

I wish I could record the commercials on TV. Sooo funny. Lots of talking animals. Oh and the “Salonpasu” commercial about the muscle sticker things and beating the fish…hilarious.

Oh man that’s got to be one of the stupidest moves I’ve seen in a long time. Hey, I know. Let’s do a new ad campaign with the bunny sayin’ “Eeeeeh, what’s up doc?!”

NAGOYA — A company that has taken over NOVA Corp., the failed English school chain, has opened a new school here, company officials said.

=============

G.education, based in Nagoya, remodeled its “EC” English school as a NOVA school and opened it near Nagoya Station in Nakamura-ku.

The company will hold meetings for NOVA students and new students on Thursday and Saturday in addition to one it held on Wednesday. The new school can accept about 200 students and it will continue to teach EC students.

The new school is set to start lessons next week, according to officials.

Today NOVA is applying for bankruptcy protection. You heard it. The big one is going down or at least it probably will. Bankruptcy protection does not necessarily mean they will close.

This morning, it has announced a boardroom coup has ousted the company’s elusive president. Nova will seek court protection from its creditors over more than 400-million-dollars in debt, a step to avoid bankruptcy.

The company has failed to pay its foreign staff this month, and hasn’t paid its Japanese employees since July. ABC Radio
