Gaijin-in-JapanBlogging direct from Kobe, Japan
Gaijin isn't a bad word. There just isn't any
other word to describe us. And besides, I'm different and I like it that way. Why else would I decide to leave San Francisco and live here forever? So that I can eat good food? Maybe. |

I’m just getting going on my M.ed. and am already thinking I may need to get a Phd. YUK! I’m so sick of going to school. Or maybe I can spend the next year writing like a mad man in order to build up my publications; add to this a stiff serving of research and a couple books and I should have a pretty good arsenal without the need to go back for my doctorate. But does it really matter? Or do I need to just meet the right person and take classes in kissing ass. What have I become? Whatever happened to my dream of becoming a full time web dude…WHOOOSH! Out the window.

This is tough question. I think in Japan you might be able to get by with a Masters, but in the US you really need a Doctorate. You are right about publishing your work, that often opens doors.

Being a full-time Web dude is over-rated. I’d dearly love to get out of web stuff and actually achieve something with life. Maybe teaching? You must be logged in to post a comment. |
