Here it comes...

Technorati says Japan posts more than any other country. According to Technorati’s State of the Blogoshpere as reported by Sifry’s Alerts, Japan was responsible for 37% of the posts to blogs. Why is that? I believe, in one word: Mixi. The equivalent to MySpace. You have to understand how infectious chatting is for Japanese young girls. The only way you can join Mixi is by being invited.

I’m not sure if Mixi is as crazy as it was last year but I’m sure it is one of the major reasons why Technorati got those results. I wonder if my space was tracked the same way in America. Considering the population difference I would think the results would be different.

Hmmm that is surprising numbers. However seeing the girls on the cell phone do text in Japan, maybe it is not so far off. However there is the size difference Japan to the USa, makes you wonder. Now there is Multiply.com which is also by invite.
I’m there… zen.multiply.com

Multiply must have taken the idea from Mixi. I’m almost sure it won’t catch on in the states. There isn’t the same “member” mentality as here. IMHO.

possibly true, however yahoo has 360 which there seems to be a mass migration to multiply. Then there is myspace where seems like everyone taps into.
oh then i hear there is this place called gajjin in japan that has blogs growing like cancer :-)

Even 30-40s Japanese ladies use Mixi. The numbers are not a suprise to me at all to me.

Had to wiki “Mixi”. Never heard of it. Sounds like Facebook a bit.
