Here it comes...

world_religion.gifYes and no.

As a baptized evangelical Christian living in Japan and Berlin but coming from the “westest” corner of the world, Orange County, California, I have been able to look at religion in three of the most popular countries of the world. A vast majority of the world still keeps their religious values in a world which has evolved enough to explain the whys and why nots our ancestors didn’t have the pleasure to explain. A world in which science has proven our curiosities and given us the ability to take steps to improve our lives.

The “Wild” Zulus and The “Civilized” West
A society yet without gods

by Theresa Mitsopoulou
China, Greece, and the Zulus of Africa

If we can understand the time span of evolution and the the development of “gods,” surely we can both understand that our differences are futile. I only wish to dampen the furvent behavior of those with such atheist hate. Why fight a fire with the force of ten when one can sit and see it die over time?

Yes, we all know that Jesus did not exist as we know him as well as 100s more gods that have given us hope and explanation. For 1,000s of years we have worshipped and prayed for better comings, safe returns, thanks and forgiveness. We shouldn’t feel like this was done in vain. Believing and faith are the basis of dreams. It gives us hope and a chance for a new outlook on things we never dreamed would appear before us.

I do not wish to put out the fire but I do want us to realize for our decendants that life is not what we always believe it will be. The stories told thousands of years ago cannot always stand the test of time. Culture and civilizations will die and be reborn, it is us who must realize that forgiveness is not a scapegoat.

I’m not alone in this way of thinking and it’s high time for others to realize our global relationship. As a world citizen, I only wish we could realize we are all looking for the same thing. It’s just who will be able to figure it out and make it understandable for the masses.
