Here it comes...

I was watching The Incredibles with some friends and wondered why they chose to listen in English rather than Japanese. They said that Japanese is too cute. It lacks the roughness that English has which makes the movie less interesting.

Have you ever watched an entire movie with English subtitles? Tiring; especially if the subtitles were done in Thailand.

Thats normal, in my opinion. when ever I watch a foreign film or toon I always watch with subtitles. The problem as I see it is that a dubbed version never catches the intended emotions properly. And subtitles…well after awhile it becomes normal.

Having spent so much time in Chiantown and Japantown watching flicks it does not bother me at all.

All the Zato ichi moives I have are dubbed.

After awhile it becomes normal :-)

“after awhile it becomes normal”

I suppose if water were the only thing available to drink it would be the same, eh?

When I lived in Germany I had to watch subtitled movies because their weren’t very theaters offering the OV (original version). Just for fun, go to this link and see how many movies are available in thier original version around 7:00 pm. http://english.zitty.de/cinema/ (maybe 5 or 6 in the 92 cinemas of Berlin)
